week 34

This week the weather didn't improve at all and we're all a bit depressed by it. Doing a public art project while raining isn't the best combination. But without any real delay the projects of Adrien and Birgit were on schedule. Eric and Christoph came back to the residency after a short interruption and it's good for the group "spirit" to have them back.
It was a good week because there was a lot of action. Everybody helped each other out with the projects. We're up for some interesting two weeks were a lot of things will happen. We are already talking about the overall design for the final presentation.

Wouter and Elke,

This week we worked on the design of the houseboat. Coming week we've planned to put it in the water. We learned a few things from the floating cube of Adrien and hopefully our launch in the water will be a success as well. Besides the construction of the houseboat we're working on interviews with people who live on houseboats, trailers and other more alternative housing constructions. We don't know yet if we will do something with these recordings, but it's quite interesting to hear the stories about their environment and the way they constructed their houses themselves.

Parts from the first Interviews:

My father is lying there, my mother in law, uncles, nephews, friends, ...

There is nothing of my mother which I am looking for. Not at that place.
... for me those rituals are very, very important. They are huge impressions in my memory.
Huger than the place to see where my mother is buried.
So I go back in memory to that moment and not to the stone or the place.

You are dead and it´s over, so burn it, and it´s gone.

It used to be so organized. It was a standing stone or a flat stone but that was about it.
Faith hope and love. It is a combination of a dutch poem and well, the sign, and then of course the name and the date of birth and death.

then I can go back in my mind and see the children carrying her to that place.

And You have very strange rituals. We had a singer here in Holland. He was shot into the sky!
With five rockets or something or seven. (Laughs) It was a pretty fat guy! (Laughs loud) I don´t know how many it was, but i think, that´s a bit over the hill. (Laughs)
His Ashes went into the sky and then exploded. Then they were blown away.

I think, in my opinion it´s most important for the people who are left behind
